Hello Beaver Caucus member,
2021 has been a busy and productive year for The Beaver Caucus, and we are grateful for our volunteer advocates who have turned out en masse to show support for Oregon State University.
You have helped support us in this time between legislative sessions to build and grow our relationships with state leaders by:
- Attending our new OSU Constituent meetings, a series of small gatherings where legislators meet with OSU supporters in their communities
- Joining us for Virtual Advocacy Days
- Writing letters in support of OSU to your legislators
THANK YOU for your advocacy!
Advocacy Homecoming Gathering
We were delighted to have you join us for our annual Advocacy Homecoming Gathering in partnership with the Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Oregon State’s student government organization. Over 40 guests joined us at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center, including many current and past ASOSU officers. A special thanks to past ASOSU President and current Oregon Representative Brian Clem ’94, for joining.
Virtual Advocacy Day
This November, Oregon legislators came together for a series of committee meetings, and 20 of them met with OSU advocates during our Virtual Advocacy Day. Our advocates urged them to support OSU’s requests for funding for the Statewide Public Service Programs, as well as expanded state support for the State Climatologist, a position housed at OSU. These requests will be voted on in the February 2022 session.
Ask your legislator to support these requests
We thank you for your continued engagement and advocacy during this time outside of a legislative session. Because of your advocacy, we know our legislators will understand how important OSU is to their constituents and their communities. We are thankful that OSU has such passionate supporters willing to give their time so generously.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
Bill Perry
President
