Hello Beaver Caucus Advocate,

The 2021 legislative session is underway and there are many ways you can get involved to support Oregon State.

Getting to Know Cordley Hall

One of our top priorities in this legislative session is to secure funding to complete the revitalization of Cordley Hall. This building serves thousands of undergraduate students each year and provides lab space for important and groundbreaking research. In fact, Cordley Hall is one of the largest teaching and lab buildings on the Corvallis campus and has not been comprehensively renovated in the 70 years since it was built. Over the last 5 years, research in this space has brought more than $56 million in grant funding to the University. During the 2021 legislative session, we are requesting $86 million in state bonds to complete the final phase of Cordley Hall’s renovation. Watch this short video about the building and the project:

OSU Continues to Help Oregonians Navigate the Pandemic

Distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine is underway, and many members of our communities have questions: What do we need to know about the vaccines and the vaccination process? What can we do to stay healthy? How will the vaccine rollout affect our communities?

Join faculty experts from Oregon State University for a discussion about vaccinations and COVID-19. During this webcast presented by the OSU Alumni Association in collaboration with Health Sciences, you’ll learn about OSU’s roles in addressing the pandemic and come away with valuable information you can share with friends and family who have questions about vaccines.

Event Details: Tomorrow, March 3, 2021, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Register Here.

OSU Statewide Impact

Even before the pandemic, demand for quality childcare exceeded demand across the state. OSU-Extension has been working to address this problem by offering workshops taught by 4-H faculty that train teens in the basics of childcare with an emphasis on baby and toddler care, nutrition, safety and first aid. Additionally, participants learn basic business skills and learn how they can pursue careers in early childhood education. During the lockdown, these workshops have been offered online, and hundreds of learners from 25 Oregon counties have participated. Learn more
