The 2017 Oregon Legislative Session recently adjourned and the efforts of Beaver Caucus members like you had a real impact on the future of our great university.

With your help, the legislature approved a $70 million increase in funding for all seven public universities, which will allow OSU to keep tuition increases low and provide services and support directly to students. Focusing on student success while maintaining affordability is critical to ensuring that young Oregonians from every background have access to an OSU education.

Nearly $50 million in capital construction investments will help OSU construct the Quality Food and Beverage Building and address deferred maintenance projects on the Corvallis campus. These capital improvement projects will substantially improve the student experience at OSU. The Quality Food and Beverage Building will further OSU’s research, teaching and outreach with facilities to train tomorrow’s winemakers, brewers, cheese makers and other food entrepreneurs on state-of-the-art equipment. This, in turn, leads to a highly-skilled workforce that will support Oregon as a world leader in quality food and beverages.

The expansion of the OSU-Cascades campus and the OSU Statewide Public Service Programs weren’t funded at the level we supported. We are disappointed by this outcome, but we are working on a legislative strategy to make sure OSU-Cascades becomes a reality in the future and the statewide programs are fully funded.

Thank you for the countless meetings, phone calls and emails to legislators in support of our legislative priorities. Your voice made a difference. Together, we will ensure that Oregon State University continues to be a world-class university available to students of every background.

Go Beavs!

Sincerely,

Bill Perry
President
